    My vision for CalQuira

    Why I built CalQuira from BauBeaver: practical tools that explain the why, not just the result.

    Hi👋 I am Samuel, a carpenter and the creator of BauBeaver and CalQuira.

    For years, I have taught timber joints, timber construction, and structural statics to people with very different starting points.

    Beginners ask careful first questions. Experienced tradespeople ask faster, sharper ones. But many questions repeat.

    That pattern is why CalQuira exists.

    Content can explain ideas. Real projects need decisions.

    When you are on a jobsite, planning a roof detail, or checking a connection, you need more than a number. You need context: what the number means, which assumptions it depends on, and where the limit is.

    So CalQuira is built to explain the why, not only the output.

    We combine practical calculators with clear guidance. We use craft language and technical terms together.

    For example: span, load, support, and connection are not abstract theory. They are the factors that decide whether a detail is robust or risky.

    This platform is for DIY's and professionals alike. If you are starting your first timber project, you should get a clear path. If you already work in the trade, you should get faster checks and cleaner decisions.

    CalQuira does not replace engineering approval where it is required. It helps you prepare better inputs, understand constraints earlier, and reduce avoidable errors.

    My commitment is practical expansion. New modules will continue to come from real questions you bring from real projects.
